Announcing our diverse entrée for next TRADE TARIK:
Lawrence Ku, Leathersmith and founder of Kult Skins, who turned his pastime hobby into a lifestyle business in leathercraft,
Mona Cheah and Yaney Yusup, Yarn activists of Yarnboming Singapore, who worked closely with community of senior citizens, the grassroots and yarn enthusiasts for Maker Faire and beyond,
Mohd Affendy, Social entrepreneur and founder, Sew Suite, who left the teaching profession to pursue entrepreneurship towards amplifying social impact through sewing
Dr Timothy Shim, Surgeon from Tan Tock Seng Hospital, who specialises in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery
Did you know that the stitching, craft and fabric industry exceeds US$4 billion? The DIY fashion trend supports demand, but rising competition may inhibit growth, or will it? In a world of high fashion and those who can't even afford proper clothing, how might craftsmanship, creative communities and entrepreneurship mend such a socioeconomic divide?
Clothes represent identity to many and for several cultures, how and what they wear are a reflection of their values and beliefs. This October, we are blessed to have 4 diverse practitioners share their journeys, insights, stitching techniques and the movements they lead.
Due to limited spaces, express your interest and get your tickets soon. This would also help us order sufficient food and refreshment, and minimise food waste.
You will get a rare opportunity to learn more about their discoveries, mingle with them in person and get exposed to the growing artisanal movement at Singapore's first independent design resource co-making space... and yes, have Teh Tarik at a Katong surrounded with Peranakan heritage <3
We're also helping to fundraise for future community art and craft initiatives. Proceeds help cover refreshment, tools, operation costs, grow TRADE TARIK, space rental and build up the ground-up innovation movement.
For enquiries, simply contact firstname.lastname@example.org
As it is a paid event with limited spaces, remember to express your interest early.
Share this event page with your family members and friends who could benefit from this TRADE TARIK experience. Seeya!
